An essential part of any scuba diving expedition is the scuba tank. For obvious reasons, you want to be sure that you get a scuba tank that is reliable and has enough capacity for the majority of your dives, yet easy enough for you to maneuver and carry. Scuba gets its name from the diving tank, because SCUBA stands for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. In fact, that is the distinguishing factor between snorkeling and scuba diving because the high-pressure gas for breathing allows you to go deeper underwater without resurfacing.

Scuba tanks contain several components including the aluminum or steel pressure vessel that holds the mixed oxygen-gas mixture, the pillar valve which connects to the diving regulator, and the rubber o-ring that forms a seal between the valve and regulator. The tanks made of steel add more weight to those that wear highly buoyant diving suits, or other tanks might be made of aluminum for ease of carrying. They should not be confused with oxygen tanks, because scuba tanks contain an air mixture that includes oxygen, but is not the oxygen-rich, hospital quality mixture.

Another factor that comes with deeper diving is that you might need different scuba tanks for each phase or depth of the dive. For example, your tank for the ascent and descent might include 21 to 40 percent oxygen, where the scuba tank you would use in deeper water might contain lower amounts of oxygen below the 21 percent or hypoxic below 17 percent. Decompression scuba tanks will contain high amounts of oxygen or pure oxygen to accelerate the decompression process.

Those that are certified in scuba diving instruction know formulas to calculate the amount of air you will need and take other factors into consideration. Details such as tanks that get lighter as you breathe them are on the verge of getting empty, can be a factor to consider in buoyancy, which will increase towards the end of the dive, for example. Recreational divers don’t need to worry about these scuba tank issues as much as those doing technical dives, such as exploring old shipwrecks in cold, deep and murky waters, for instance. The importance of your scuba tank is obvious when you are going on scuba diving expeditions, so it is advisable to seek out certified and expert help on your tanks before venturing out on your own.

Scuba diving is an exciting and exhilarating hobby that allows you to view an underworld life most won’t ever see firsthand. When you are diving, you are given an intimate show of what life looks like below the water line. But, it takes a certain type of person to be able to go scuba diving because it is dangerous. Not only do you have to worry about losing oxygen, but what about the threat of underwater creatures?

Sharks and eels are probably the two creatures that strike fear into the hearts of most people when they think about scuba diving. But, actual attacks are very rare and your chances of getting killed or hurt are slim. Still though, you do have to think about what would happen if you were diving and came face to face with an angry shark. Your wet suit wouldn’t do anything to protect you against those teeth. So, think about that long and hard before you jump off that boat next time.

Though it is a scary thought, perhaps that’s the appeal for many scuba diving fanatics. Not only do you get to see the amazing underwater life, but you are also in a constant state of threat that something could go wrong at any minute. But, diving isn’t the only hobby that’s fraught with danger, think about rock climbing, bungee jumping and white water rafting. People love these activities for the thrill and the high they get. So, scuba diving probably isn’t any different and you get the added bonus of seeing vibrantly colored fish and exotic sea creatures as well.

Before you set off to go scuba diving, make sure you’ve been well trained. Take a class from a professional so you will know exactly what to do and when to do it. It’s always good to learn this way so you’ll know what to do in case of an emergency as well. Buy a quality wetsuit and other diving essentials and you’ll be a diving pro in no time!

What can be a more adventurous and fulfilling scuba diving vacation experience than liveaboard luxury yacht cruising and scuba diving in the tropical islands of Bali? Contrary to what many scuba divers think, liveaboard scuba diving may not be as expensive as you think. In fact if planned properly, live on board diving vacations may even save you money and inconveniences. Firstly, you will on transportation time and costs traveling to your dive operator’s boat and then after your dive, returning to your hotel or resort lugging your cumbersome scuba diving gear with you and repeating the same process for the next couple of days during your vacation in Bali.

Next, you save money on hotel or resort accommodation because since that you are living on the dive boats, there will be no need for hotel or resort bookings. Furthermore, you do not need to hunt for expensive meals in your hotel or resort since all liveaboard scuba diving packages will include delicious meals which will also mean that you will be probably having very fresh and delectable sea food caught by the crew while you are enjoying your cruise or are scuba diving.

The highlight of your liveaboard Bali vacation is that you can dive in many exotic dive locations instead of only the dive spots near where you stay. This is because since that you need not return to your resort or hotel to retire for the day, the liveaboard dive yachts will cruise away to far flung scuba diving locations while you are sleeping. This again saves you time and best of all, you get to save more money by diving in more places for the same price.

Visit one of Bali’s most interesting street on the way to Pemuteran & Menjangan North West Bali which will also include a stopover in View Point Restaurant Sanda. You will scuba dive in Pemuteran House Reef & Reef Project or Secret Bay in Gilimanuk. Your liveaboard boat will cruise to Menjangan Island. You will be diving at the National Park, Walls, Anker Wreck, Coral Garden, buffet lunch on the white powdery sandy beach of the island. The boat will then land and send you to the north coast and visit a well kept secret Waterfall and a hot spring.

Scuba diving activities will be at Amed Tulamben or Secret Spot, Drop Off, Liberty Wreck Dive (American battle ship sunk during WW2) & some wall diving. Some land excursion to enjoy the view of Bali’s world famous terraced rice fields in the morning. Then your liveaboard yatcht will take you diving at the Blue Lagoon & White Beach. There will also be a night dive at the Blue Lagoon. Continue your Bali vacation by cruising to Gili Mimpang & Gili Tepekong or Gili Biaha for fantastic dive sites.

More scuba diving activities at Gili Biaha or Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan. The sea at these diving locations could be rough at times, so the dives would very much be dependant on the weather. However, if the weather allow, you will be scuba diving in one of the most breath taking underwater scenery in the world. More scuba diving at the Blue Lagoon, White Beach and the Channel and then off to Bali airport to your next scuba diving adventure.

As with the proper tips and guidelines in scuba diving, you should equip yourself with the basic knowledge of scuba equipment. Scuba equipment is very important in scuba diving, in as much as breathing is vital to your existence – a diver cannot survive without it.

Scuba Equipment for Breathing

Otherwise known as the Rebreather, the Aqualung is the most important item you must have in your scuba equipment. Without it, breathing underwater is not even possible. If there’s one thing you should know, that’s the danger of scuba diving. Without equipping yourself with the proper breathing machine for underwater, you are in great danger. Therefore, you must not take risks. Be sure that you have this most important scuba diving item in your scuba equipment. After all, scuba diving is not scuba diving without an aqualung.

Scuba Equipment for Alternative Breathing

There are other scuba tools you can use for underwater breathing, though right now the Aqualung is the most widely used scuba equipment in breathing. The most recent innovation is the liquid breathing system. Although not completely developed yet, the liquid breathing system can prove to be an innovative integration to the experience that is scuba diving. With liquid breathing system, divers can dive to totally deeper pits of the water, hence, allowing a more unique and fun diving experience. If you are not planning to dive too deep under the sea, then you can go for the simple but effective snorkel which allows you to breathe in oxygen from above the surface of the water.

Scuba Equipment for Water Movement

If you are constantly restraining yourself while moving underwater, scuba diving is not scuba diving. If you really want a scuba diving experience that is exhilarating and fulfilling, then you ought to have the appropriate scuba equipment for underwater movement. First in the list is the scuba diving dress. Make sure that your scuba diving dress does not let water seep in and, at the same time, does not restrain your bodily movement. Make sure that, in picking your scuba diving dress, you never compromise quality with the price. If you do, you are henceforth putting your own safety and enjoyment in the line. Fins are also a simple but most important factor in your scuba equipment. This allows you to project your movements underwater. If your scuba fins are too small or too large, it will definitely show when you are already diving underwater. It can either exaggerate or hold back your feet while you are swimming. These are both instances you will want to avoid, so you better pick the best scuba fins.

Scuba Equipment for Water Navigation

What could be worse than knowing that you are lost underwater? This can be a painful situation for you, which is exactly why you better include the important tools in water navigation in your scuba equipment. Such includes the underwater compass. Definitely, it is harder to have a sense of direction underwater than in land, so you better be sure that you have an underwater compass in your scuba equipment, lest you be lost underwater. Also a must in your scuba equipment is a depth gauge, which will tell you exactly how deep from the surface level you are.

If you are planning to venture into the world of scuba diving, one thing you should definitely not do is be unprepared. Contrary to popular belief, scuba diving is not just about diving deep underwater in order to see the wonders of the sea. Scuba diving is something that requires much knowledge before it is put into action. Therefore, it would be best if you endow yourself with the proper tips and guidelines in diving before venturing into the deep. As with the proper tips and guidelines in scuba diving, you should equip yourself with the basic knowledge of scuba equipment. Scuba equipment is very important in scuba diving, inasmuch as breathing is vital to your existence – a diver cannot survive without it.

A scuba diving initiation offered to visitors of the monument

A 230 m² heated swimming pool located at the North Pillar of the Eiffel Tower will allow visitors to experience their first scuba dive.

In an underwater environment, forty certified instructors (FFESSM : Fédération Française d’Etudes et de Sports Sous marin) will be on hand to take venturesome visitors down to the bottom of the pool, decorated with photos of fish.

The heated pool with its depth of 1.20 meters is suitable for young and old (no children under 8 will be allowed to participate and all minors must have parental permission).

The diving equipment – wetsuit, fins, mask, and tank – will be supplied.

Once equipped and following a short lesson, divers will spend 20 minutes underwater with their instructor. Each diver will receive a certificate.

This exceptional offer is free of charge to all those visiting the monument; just present your entrance ticket. To sign up, before you visit the Eiffel Tower, go to the swimming pool welcoming tent.

“To turn each tourist into an active guardian of our natural environment, while having fun through a constructive experience, is a goal as high as the Eiffel Tower!”

Through this promotion, Mr. Jean-Bernard Bros, Director of Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel, wishes to convey a strong message in defence of the planet: “At a moment when environmental matters are becoming more and more important, the ones who need to be informed about the future of the Earth and Oceans are the tourists, those travelling across the world exploring it. What better means than this introduction to scuba diving to discover the underwater environment, its beauty and above all its fragile nature?” That is the intent of the Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel.

This exceptional event has been made possible thanks to: Salon de la Plongée Sous-Marine, Plongée On Line, Fédération Française d’Etudes et de Sports Sous-Marins (FFESSM), PADI, Aqua Lung, Scubapro, Cressi, Subaqua, Coltri Sub, Axa- Cabinet Lafont, Aquarev, Blue Lagoon, Bleu Marine Loisirs, Déclic Bleu Méditerranée, Restaurants of the Tour Eiffel.
